When you don’t have the answer, don’t panic.

As I head towards the end of my undergraduate education, I get many questions such as, “Whats next?”, “What are your plans?”, “Where are you going to work? “, “What about graduate school?”, and the list goes on. To be honest, it is overwhelming. But you know what, when I stopped focusing on the answers that sound good to other people, and what I think is an intelligent response, I start to feel relieved! Because guess what?! Its me who I need to be focusing on pleasing, not those around me. It is my life, and I am going to have to live with my choices. So, I take what I have learned so far and run with it! Literally, lol. I refuse to abandon what I have invested in financially, emotionally, physically, mentally, in my education and throw it away because the economy is bad, or I can’t find the job I want, or for some odd reason, I start to question everything which lies in front of me. I will simply, stay the course. So, the next time someones asks me, “What are you going to do next”, I might say, “I’m figuring it out”. (period). Let’s be honest, it’s uncomfortable to share an imperfect plan for your life, especially in interviews, and among peers who seem to have it all figured out. But the more you stay the course you find your way. Stick to what you’re talented at, work at it, be challenged, and work at it some more. Don’t be hesitant to share your imperfect dream with someone new. They may actually be able to help you! Reality is, all those people you think have it all together, were once struggling to find their way, once, or maybe many times. Start where you are, not where you want to be. Meaning, the journey is a work in progress. There is no way to skip the hard parts of life, to get to the easy parts. Success is not easy, even at its peek. Actually, in my opinion, success is not really success at all, it is simply moments of relief from a fighter, who has finally won the battle.
